
From 2008 through 2011, SoundOut helped lead a national program called Students Taking Charge from Action for Healthy Kids. In addition to coordinating program operations for 11 middle schools and high schools across Washington State, SoundOut provided technical assistance and public speaking for the national operations, including in Chicago and New Hampshire.
Focused on improving knowledge, increasing self-efficacy and promoting meaningful student involvement through youth advocacy in schools, Students Taking Charge sought to
- Engage youth leaders in high schools
- Introduce youth leaders to the power of advocacy and empower them as effective change agents in school communities
- Drive real and sustainable change in the school environment
