Blended Learning and Meaningful Student Involvement

2013LearningthruMSI

Blended learning combines different ways of teaching and learning in lesson plans in order to teach students more effectively. It enables and empowers educators to adapt and transform their lessons in order to reach students more powerfully.

What It Is

Focusing largely on technology and interactive learning approaches, including service learning, experiential education and environmental education. Student voice can be at the heart of each of these approaches through planning, research, teaching, facilitation, evaluation and decision-making.

Where Meaningful Student Involvement Fits

It embodies Meaningful Student Involvement because it is great for the practice of teaching; it increases students’ access to knowledge; promotes social interactions between learners; develops personal agency in students; uses classroom resources more effective; and is highly adaptable. (Osguthorpe & Graham, 2003)
