School Protests

When the democratic levers of policy-making aren’t effective at representing broad constituencies’ interests, Meaningful Student Involvement can embrace diverse opinions.

Student-led school advocacy and Student/Adult Partnerships can include school protests. When adults do not engage student voice in meaningful ways throughout the school environment, students may feel compelled to make their voices heard by adults.

Meaningful Student Involvement in protest means equitable decision-making, non-tokenizing roles for students, and full involvement throughout all facets of protesting.
